Your box has been lovingly hand-made from a single, solid piece of Australian Red Cedar. As the proud owner of an Alan Williams Bandsawn Box, you are among Princes and Presidents enjoying the tactile beauty of a unique piece. Since 1992 Alan has been fully occupied making his bandsawn compartment boxes and is now creating articles for the pure enjoyment of making. Alan’s boxes have been selected as presentation pieces for the Governors of Queensland and N.S.W. and as gifts from Australian Government. They feature in private collections throughout the world and in Australia. Created from a single, solid piece of Australian Red Cedar, this piece is 17cms long x 14cms high x 9cms deep.

Start with a tanned leather wristband or bookmark and create your own stamped pattern.
You will learn basic spindle and faceplate turning techniques shaping sanding and finishing. You will make a bowl in this workshop.

NOTE: Classes can be structured for experienced turners.
Create a traditional Jacob’s Ladder using timber and ribbons … then amaze your friends!.
Take 5 x SRA3 sheets and create amazing colours and patterns resembling unusual Marble – used to cover books or boxes. Suitable for most ages.
Decorate and assemble one Tyvek (tear resistant) Diamond sail Kite. Then take it out to the front paddock to fly it!
Bring an A4 size picture – You will mount it on plywood & cut out the unique puzzle on a scroll saw. You also make a framed base to hold your puzzle.
Take three or four sticks and some yarn and Christine will teach you how to weave in your hands.

1 – The Bandsawn Box Making workshop is a unique opportunity to learn a myriad of techniques from the master that you can use in all your woodwork – not just while making Bandsawn Boxes. The workshop is $795, and for those who wish to stay at Artisans, you will save on our normal rates.

This 3 day workshop with Alan is SKILLS based (not project based)
The emphasis will be on design and advanced techniques to bring your design to a Gallery standard finish. Participation fee: $1,000

This first PMC class is designed to introduce you to the material and how to manipulate it. You will make a slab pendant.
Maximum 4 people per class
These classes assume previous experience with Silver Clay (our Beginners Class or other experience).
Project based using the syringe creating a ring hollow form jewellery pieces or creating mounts to hold precious stones etc.
Materials are not included in the $75 as we do not know what you would like to do.
You will make a small platter from clear float glass. You will be taught to cut glass, design your platter and make a small mould to suit. Your piece will be fired overnight and be available for pick up the next day.
You will be using coloured glass (including dichroic) to make small pieces (eg jewellery pendant) You will learn to cut and grind glass, the basics of fusing and kiln firing. Your pieces will be fired overnight and be available for pick up the next day.

Choosing your own colour and fragrance you will create one container candle.
Bring your own white t-shirt and transform it using non-toxic brightly coloured fabric paints.
A fun session discovering how to use fabric paints! By the end of the class you will create your own silk scarf.
You will make 2 candles using natural Palm wax with your choice of colour and fragrance. Candle making kits and supplies are available.
Candles cannot be collected till the next day.
